报告内容介绍:

The talk comprises the origin of compact stars, those extremely dense, dead remains of stars that no longer burn nuclear fuel in their interior and the mathematical prediction of black holes. Also discussed will be the exotic properties of the highly magnetic white dwarfs, the rapidly spinning pulsars, and the mysterious 'magnetars.’ Finally, Prof Ferrario will introduce the topic of magnetic accretion and its mathematical modelling. She will show how strongly magnetic compact stars slowly devour their companions and produce the most spectacular phenomena observed in the universe.

本讲座内容包括致密星的起源,内部核燃料停止燃烧的密集死亡恒星和黑洞的数学预测的起源,还将讨论高磁性白矮星的特性,快速旋转的脉冲星和神秘的“磁星”。最后,Ferrario教授将介绍磁性吸积及其数学建模。她将展示致密星是如何通过强磁性慢慢吞噬同伴,并制造了宇宙中最壮观的现象。
